Nate Neale
Senior Scientist and Group Manager, NREL

Nate Neale is a Senior Scientist and the Interfacial Materials Chemistry Group Manager at NREL. His research focuses on developing novel wet chemical and gas-phase approaches to tailor the compositional structure and surface chemistry of nanostructured inorganic semiconductors and related materials for photocatalysis, solar fuels, and electrochemical energy storage. The majority of his work seeks to develop a fundamental mechanistic understanding of how interfacial chemistry impacts charge transfer and energetics through in situ and operando spectroscopic techniques. He received his BA degree in chemistry with a political science minor from Middlebury College and his PhD degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
