COSEIA (Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association) in partnership with CRES (Colorado Renewable Energy Society) and Sierra Club is intervening in the 2013 Demand Side Management (DSM) Strategic Issues Docket at the Public Utility Commission (PUC). We seek to expand these gas and electric programs, by removing the current bottleneck of MTRC: Modified Total Resource Cost. This cost/benefit test gives very small consideration to the health and environmental benefits of the displaced fossil fuels.
We are seeking a bright, serious, motivated, intern who can analyze, research, gather and present rational data and/or expert witnesses to the PUC, to help turn the tide on the metrics used to calculate the non-energy benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency techs. Ultimately, the data will need to calculate and prove the value of non-energy benefits, including environmental and health costs of displaced fossil fuels: coal and natural gas for electrical production, and gas for home heating. Coal data is more readily available, while data on natural gas and fracking will need more involvement.
We are seeking an intern who is both:
a) Competent at creative and analytical thinking to help develop these metrics
b) Highly motivated by an understanding of the issues around fossil fuels and how they will affect the health of the planet and humanity over the coming generations.
